About the Lucky Lonely

Southern California’s The Lucky Lonely was started in Costa Mesa by songwriting partners David Bennett and Michael Bedard. From the inception, they wanted the Lucky Lonely to be a place for them to sing and showcase their love for simple but great songs with a unique style of blending harmonies that leaves you wondering who’s singing which part; a trait more common with sibling groups like the Everly Brothers, but the Lucky Lonely likes to crank it up to “10”.

After writing together in a handful of bands and going off on their own for a bit, Dave went to school in his native LA and performed solo around Hollywood while Mike went on to tour with Hip Hop legends The Pharcyde and eventually became Musical Director, Drummer, and Background Vocalist for Miss Jordin Sparks. During this time, Dave auditioned for P Diddy’s MTV show “Star Marker” and lived in a mansion in LA, writing songs for and performing on the reality show. The two stayed in contact and would perform together around Southern California while Mike was home from tour, and they never stopped writing together to form what would become the foundation of the Lucky Lonely. The two have an exact vision of what they want to achieve and are having fun cracking the code of “success.”

The Lucky Lonely has recruited Fender Guitar’s funky rising start, Jinjoo Lee, on guitar. Lee, shortly after moving to LA on her own from Korea, was playing guitar for Jordin Sparks, Cee Lo, Jojo, and Keyshia Cole, and has become a first call touring guitarist for her amazing guitar playing, gorgeous looks, and on stage presence. Bob Matthews has joined the band playing bass after he and Michael met on the road while Bob was Musical Director for Kate Voegele. With Bob and Jinjoo being the perfect fit, nothing seems to stop this band.

They’ve since recorded two EP’s, and a maxi-single, “The Chair,” and were part of the first wave of bands to successfully fund a project using Kickstarter in 2010. Their song “Notice Me” was featured in GAP’s holiday campaign, Joy it Up, and they’ve been buzzing in Orange County publications Locale and OC Weekly. The Mowgli’s have chosen the Lucky Lonely to open their Southern California shows on the Random Acts of Kindness Tour in December 2013, and have been a strong proponent of the Lucky Lonely.

In 2014, the Lucky Lonely plan on recording 10 new songs and touring extensively.
